We’re used to Texas-sized everything, including our housing. And while we may not be living in mansions, we do enjoy a very affordable standard of living. If you disagree then consider this literally closet-sized space in Manhattan, New York City’s most densely populated area. $800 a month may sound reasonable to you, but you have to always consider how far your dollar goes.
Now for the reality check, and learning to appreciate our reasonable standard of living in DFW. If you consider that the average rented residential space in Dallas is 922 square feet, according to Trovit, and if we paid the same price per square foot as this renter in Manhattan, our monthly rent would exceed $9,450! Thankfully though we’re much closer to $1.00 a square foot for the typical rental, which helps us to enjoy everything that’s bigger and better in DFW. So the next time you’re looking for a property and are not happy with the prices, just keep this in mind and count your blessings!
